So, here's the result of Day One of new outfit shopping for 100+ children. I wish I had a picture of the different sizes we bought. Since Oasis covers such a wide age-range, the clothing had to stretch over that as well. Tiny shirts and skirts, to man sized jeans and shirts...
The party is on Tuesday. I know we will take hundreds of photos to show the excitement that accompanies the celebration...Some of the house boys left yesterday to go visit their families in various parts of Kenya. So, with the help of Pastor Steve and the "Bottles for Bibles" ministry of Saddleback Church, we were able to give them each a Bible. (10 recyclables can buy 1 Bible).
We wrote inside each of the Bibles...We signed for Chris (because he would have liked to be here for this...and he should have been...)
The boys were so excited that Paul (in the hat) actually high-fived Daina to say thank you.
The rest of the kids, those who are staying here for Christmas, will get their Bibles on Christmas Day...I suppose I should say thank you for recycling...or encourage you to do so...these boys are proof that it really does matter...They are really pleased with your decision to recycle.
