Home (ish)

On Monday night, after hours and hours of travel, I made it back in to Los Angeles. I cried when I saw the "Welcome to LA" sign as I came from customs...I just wasn't really ready to be outside of Kitale. (That's why the title of this post is Home-ish...I'm not totally sure California is my only home anymore)

My mom was waiting for me
With pieces of the HSM staff (who had made signs for the students returning from their trip)
And Ryanne (with a Sarti kid)
We met my dad for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory (after we bought a new sweater since I was NOT dressed for a cold California)...
Then we headed back to my mom's to meet up with some of my favorite people: Ry, Jonathan and Luke
Yesterday, I spent the day with my very best friends...Ryanne has some pictures of the day, which I will post soon...we did a "best of Orange County" tour, as far as I'm concerned: bagels, Starbucks, nail salon, Mission Viejo Mall, Nordstrom's Cafe, Target...

I finally got to meet Gio Tafalla! He's so chubby, and really, really cute...Lea kept saying my name as Hallison (which made me think of Peter from Kipsongo, who also thought my name was Hallison)

After the long day (and a few toilet visits--American food is really rocking my return), I drove to meet the DiLallo family for a quick dinner...

On the way to dinner, I was thanking God for my safe return, for people that love me both in America and in Africa...and then, as I was thanking Him for loving people in America and in Africa, I began to cry. I miss Kitale. I miss the people that I love. There are so many people who love each other in my California world, but there are so few who truly love the people in my Kitale world...So then my prayer became a plea for God's love to cover those that don't have an abundance of love...for those children to feel the lack of parental love filled in by God's love...I was pretty weepy driving down El Toro road

Once I composed myself, I went in for dinner...(oh, I have the same sweater on two days in a row because I haven't unpacked any of my other clothes, nor have I washed all of my Kitale clothes...so I was stuck wearing a new dress (in the rain) and the same sweater...which I usually don't care about unless I have to post the pictures!)

Today, I am hoping to finish all of my laundry, catch-up on LOST, and load iPhoto on to this computer so I can share the pictures from my last few hours in Kitale...
