Faithful, You Are Faithful...

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases/
His mercies never come to an end/
They are new every morning/
new every morning/
Great is Thy faithfulness, O Lord/
Great is Thy faithfulness.

During my freshman year, our High School Ministry had a Sunday night Praise and Worship time lead by a woman, Medea. I remember attending those nights mostly because the boy that I liked would also be there {with his girlfriend...but that's not important.}

On those nights, we sang songs that we didn't typically sing on the weekends. Yet, many of those songs have been buried in my heart. We actually sang quite a few songs that I have never heard sung anywhere but in my own car; they are the songs that I find myself singing during the late-night-toll-road-drive home.

About a month ago, during a Tuesday morning staff meeting, we sang the above song {from Lamentations 3:22-24}. After the meeting, we were talking about how much we love that song. I mentioned that I had been thinking about introducing it to our high school students because it has been "stuck" in my head for the last year or so. I, unintentionally, sing it at least once a day.

My brilliant friend said, "Hmmm...Seems like you're supposed to be learning something"

I laughed, knowing he was right, but unsure {and a little nervous} about what that meant.

This morning was Youth Sunday in church. I assumed this would mean I would not be singing during service. About fifteen minutes in, Rebecca says, "And since Allison is a youth, she will be bringing us a song today."

I had nothing. I know the words to thousands of songs. {Granted, fewer than one hundred are church appropriate.} I could not come up with one.

I walked up front, made some joke about how I had hoped I would be off the hook this weekend...desperately wracking my brain for a song.

And then, there it was.

I said, "This is a song I have been singing for about a year. I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to be learning something {hahaha}..."

I sang it through twice...so grateful that it was there when I was at a loss...

What a simple way for God to show His faithfulness to me this morning.

Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
